The Brief

Since 2015, KOTA have produced Digital Marketing animated videos for the famous British Perfume House Penhaligon’s. The House was founded in the late 1860s by William Henry Penhaligon. He was a Cornish barber who moved to the capital city and who became Court Barber and Perfumer to Queen Victoria. Wildly creative and ambitious, William was inspired by the scent of neighbouring Turkish Baths on Jermyn Street, creating his first fragrance, Hammam Bouquet, in 1874. Showing his flair for business, William opened his own shop in 1874 selling perfumes and other fragranced delights, and the brand was built from there. Present-day, Penhaligon’s continue to create products of the highest quality imbued with the elegance of their heritage. They deliver their story across a range of perfume and toiletry collections with integrity, personality and sophistication, utilising our design and video animation skills to do so. The promotional videos below are a selection of the type of motion graphics KOTA create to promote the varying collections Penhaligon’s produce.

3D Peepshow World

One of the larger video campaigns we have created for Penhaligon’s was based around the Victorian ‘Peep Show’ concept, where the audience looks through an eye hole to view a secret multi-layered scene. We modernised this concept by creating a digital 3D version of varying Peep Show scenes and transporting the audience into the scene itself. Following the flight of a butterfly gliding through the forest, the audience travels through the viewing plane and is taken on a 360 journey through the cut out layered scene, ending with a hero shot of a 3D modelled perfume bottle and a glimpse of the scent’s animal alter ego. The ‘Peep Show’ concept was aimed to connect to the campaign slogan ‘Glimpse the Unseen’.
